What is a Mezzo?

A Mezzo is a thirty minute unit of work. Ideally, the Mezzo is free from interruptions, email checking, website browsing, phone calls, etc. The goal is to get into the zone for thirty minutes, focus, and then take a good break.

What is a task?

A task is something you need to accomplish, often represented as a sticky note on a Kanban board. The time to complete a task is estimated in Mezzos. For example, if you need to implement a new feature that should take 90 minutes, your estimate would be 3 Mezzos (i.e., 3 mz).

What is incubation?

Incubation is the period of time after you finish a work session. It is during the incubation period, while you are taking a break, that you may think of your best, most creative solutions. Incubation is one reason why you need to take breaks. The solution may be waiting for you -- as soon as you give up and walk around the building.
